Where these came from

These come from 65 different sources, led by the Polish Ministry of Justice (976), the Romanian Ministry of Justice (867) and the Croatian Ministry of Justice, Administration and Digital Transformation (396). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why German turns up in 55 countries rather than only where German is spoken.

3495 of the 3496 sit on an official list; the rest rest on the provider saying so or on a directory listing, and each card says which.

Where we have nothing

We list translators in 147 further cities with no German speaker recorded, among them Vienna (410), Munich (190), Graz (82) and Berlin (63). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in German.

Questions

How many German-speaking translators does this page list?
3496, in 175 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
Bucharest with 867, Warsaw with 325 and Zagreb with 260. Together that is 42% of the page.
Does a listing mean the translator speaks German personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a German speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
