Where these came from

These come from 25 different sources, led by the Turkish Ministry of Justice (255), Norway's national interpreter register (IMDi) (140) and the Romanian Ministry of Justice (131). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Arabic turns up in 23 countries rather than only where Arabic is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list translators in 244 further cities with no Arabic speaker recorded, among them Munich (190), Katowice (162), Tunis (155) and Las Palmas (137). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Arabic.

Bucharest with 131, Oslo with 126 and Gaziantep with 98. Together that is 44% of the page.

Does a listing mean the translator speaks Arabic personally?

Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include an Arabic speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
