About the Decision Wheel

Every "best city for nomads" list is really a list of someone else’s priorities. The Decision Wheel flips that around: you tell it how much each factor matters to you, and it matches you to the cities that fit your priorities rather than the internet’s. Care most about cost and community? Or wifi and nightlife? Dial it in and get a personalised ranking.

How it works

Set an importance level for each of the 13 factors and the wheel weights the cities accordingly, giving the things you care about far more pull than the things you do not. You can also filter by region, climate, time-zone band and budget, so the results are cities you would actually consider, not just high scorers on paper.

Frequently asked questions

How does the matching work?

Each city has a 0–10 rating in 13 categories. The wheel multiplies each rating by how important you said that factor is (with a strong curve, so top priorities dominate) and ranks cities by the total. Your must-haves move the needle much more than your nice-to-haves.

Can I narrow it to a region or climate?

Yes. As well as the importance sliders there are filters for region, climate type, time-zone band and monthly budget, so you can say "warm, in Europe, under $2,000" and see only cities that qualify.

Is this the same as the rankings?

No. Our rankings reflect a fixed idea of "best"; the wheel is personal to you. If you would rather browse ready-made lists, the best-cities rankings are a good starting point.
