Where these came from

These come from 12 different sources, led by the UK Foreign Office's Find a professional service abroad (58), the UK Foreign Office's travel advice (19) and samitivejhospitals.com (1). Consular lists are the reason a language turns up far from where it is spoken: a mission publishes the doctors and lawyers its own citizens can talk to, which is a language claim someone else made in public and we can point at.

80 of the 87 sit on an official list. The rest rest on the provider saying so, or on a directory that says it of its whole roster, which is a weaker claim and is labelled as such on every card.

What this page is not

The coverage is not even across services: lawyers account for 53 of the 87, while vets account for 1. That reflects which professions get published in language-tagged lists, not which ones exist.

Questions

How many Japanese-speaking providers are listed?
87, in 25 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source, not an estimate of how many exist.
Where is Japanese easiest to find?
Tokyo with 33, Osaka with 8 and Fukuoka with 6. Together that is 54% of this page.
Does a listing mean the provider speaks Japanese personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Japanese speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used so you can judge it.
