Where these came from

These come from 6 different sources, led by a Japanese embassy or consulate (18), a Japanese embassy or consulate (3) and the Psychotherapeutenkammer NRW, the statutory psychotherapists' chamber of North Rhine-Westphalia (2). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Japanese turns up in 4 countries rather than only where Japanese is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list therapists in 120 further cities with no Japanese speaker recorded, among them Hamburg (921), Cologne (368), Münster (90) and Paris (54). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Japanese.

Questions

How many Japanese-speaking therapists does this page list?
26, in 6 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
New York with 18, Washington D.C. with 3 and Düsseldorf with 2. Together that is 88% of the page.
Does a listing mean the therapist speaks Japanese personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Japanese speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
