Knysna suits remote workers who want small-town South Africa with good infrastructure and dramatic natural surroundings, and who are comfortable driving. It is a strong choice for people who hike, sail, dive or mountain bike, for those relocating with families to a quieter place with decent schools, and for anyone drawn to the Garden Route who wants a base with more substance than Plettenberg Bay. Retirees and semigrants make up much of the incoming population. It is a poor fit for anyone who wants to live car-free, needs a large professional network or nomad crowd, or wants city amenities. Cape Town is six hours away and answers all of those.
