Where these came from

These come from 15 different sources, led by the Romanian Ministry of Justice (50), the Polish Ministry of Justice (34) and the Czech Ministry of Justice (14). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Bulgarian turns up in 14 countries rather than only where Bulgarian is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list translators in 289 further cities with no Bulgarian speaker recorded, among them Madrid (767), São Paulo (763), Mexico City (244) and Barcelona (222). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Bulgarian.

Questions

How many Bulgarian-speaking translators does this page list?
152, in 33 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
Bucharest with 50, Warsaw with 14 and Vienna with 11. Together that is 49% of the page.
Does a listing mean the translator speaks Bulgarian personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Bulgarian speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
