Where these came from

These come from 10 different sources, led by Norway's national interpreter register (IMDi) (39), Austria's Ministry of Justice (court interpreter list) (4) and the Dutch register of sworn interpreters and translators (Rbtv, Bureau Wbtv) (4). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Urdu turns up in 11 countries rather than only where Urdu is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list translators in 308 further cities with no Urdu speaker recorded, among them Buenos Aires (3327), Warsaw (1482), Zagreb (806) and Madrid (767). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Urdu.

Questions

How many Urdu-speaking translators does this page list?
55, in 14 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
Oslo with 39, Vienna with 4 and Amsterdam with 1. Together that is 80% of the page.
Does a listing mean the translator speaks Urdu personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include an Urdu speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
