Where these came from

These come from 5 different sources, led by the Finnish National Agency for Education (authorised translators) (20), the UK Foreign Office's Find a professional service abroad (3) and Norway's national interpreter register (IMDi) (2). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Estonian turns up in 5 countries rather than only where Estonian is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list translators in 314 further cities with no Estonian speaker recorded, among them Bucharest (5585), Buenos Aires (3327), Warsaw (1482) and Zagreb (806). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Estonian.

Questions

How many Estonian-speaking translators does this page list?
28, in 8 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
Helsinki with 19, Oslo with 2 and Stockholm with 2. Together that is 82% of the page.
Does a listing mean the translator speaks Estonian personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include an Estonian speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
