Where these came from

These come from 9 different sources, led by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (49), the Victorian Legal Services Board + Commissioner (18) and the UK Foreign Office's Find a professional service abroad (3). Consular lists are the reason a language turns up far from where it is spoken: a mission publishes the doctors and lawyers its own citizens can talk to, which is a language claim someone else made in public and we can point at.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

What this page is not

The coverage is not even across services: doctors account for 30 of the 77, while pharmacies account for 1. That reflects which professions get published in language-tagged lists, not which ones exist.
