Where these came from

These come from 22 different sources, led by the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Hamburg, Hamburg's statutory doctors' association (322), Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (63) and the Ärztekammer für Steiermark, Styria's statutory doctors' chamber (35). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Spanish turns up in 19 countries rather than only where Spanish is spoken.

496 of the 497 sit on an official list; the rest rest on the provider saying so or on a directory listing, and each card says which.

Where we have nothing

We list doctors in 357 further cities with no Spanish speaker recorded, among them Hiroshima (315), Matsuyama (213), Athens (161) and Nara (136). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Spanish.

Does a listing mean the doctor speaks Spanish personally?

Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Spanish speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
