Where these came from
These come from 4 different sources, led by the UK Foreign Office's travel advice (10), samitivejhospitals.com (1) and fvhospital.com (1). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Chinese turns up in 5 countries rather than only where Chinese is spoken.
10 of the 13 sit on an official list; the rest rest on the provider saying so or on a directory listing, which is a weaker claim and is labelled as such on each card.
Where we have nothing
We list doctors in 182 further cities with no Chinese speaker recorded, among them Barcelona (34), Rome (29), Madrid (28) and Paris (27). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Chinese.
Questions
- How many Chinese-speaking doctors does this page list?
- 13, in 8 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
- Where are most of them?
- Tokyo with 6, Bangkok with 1 and Ho Chi Minh City with 1. Together that is 62% of the page.
- Does a listing mean the doctor speaks Chinese personally?
- Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Chinese speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
