Where these came from

These come from 12 different sources, led by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (50), a German diplomatic mission (6) and a United States embassy or consulate (5). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Spanish turns up in 12 countries rather than only where Spanish is spoken.

70 of the 74 sit on an official list; the rest rest on the provider saying so or on a directory listing, and each card says which.

Where we have nothing

We list dentists in 167 further cities with no Spanish speaker recorded, among them Okayama (142), Sendai (123), Kyoto (81) and Nagasaki (79). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Spanish.

Questions

How many Spanish-speaking dentists does this page list?
74, in 28 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
Osaka with 12, Nagoya with 11 and Fukuoka with 10. Together that is 45% of the page.
Does a listing mean the dentist speaks Spanish personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Spanish speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
