Where these came from

These come from 26 different sources, led by the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Hamburg, Hamburg's statutory doctors' association (82), the Psychotherapeutenkammer NRW, the statutory psychotherapists' chamber of North Rhine-Westphalia (30) and a French diplomatic mission (17). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why French turns up in 19 countries rather than only where French is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list therapists in 86 further cities with no French speaker recorded, among them Paris (54), Brussels (46), New York (21) and Athens (16). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in French.

Where are most of them?

Hamburg with 82, Cologne with 20 and Berlin with 15. Together that is 56% of the page.

Does a listing mean the therapist speaks French personally?

Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a French speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
