Where these came from

These come from 2 different sources, led by a United States embassy or consulate (14) and the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Hamburg, Hamburg's statutory doctors' association (2). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Tamil turns up in 2 countries rather than only where Tamil is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list doctors in 395 further cities with no Tamil speaker recorded, among them Tokyo (2113), Osaka (1015), Nagoya (770) and Fukuoka (745). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Tamil.

Questions

How many Tamil-speaking doctors does this page list?
16, in 8 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
Chennai with 5, Kochi with 3 and Coimbatore with 2. Together that is 63% of the page.
Does a listing mean the doctor speaks Tamil personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Tamil speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
