This page lists every city where we can point at a source saying a doctor works in Swedish. If you know a provider that belongs here, tell us and include where the language is stated.
Where these came from
These come from 6 different sources, led by the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Hamburg, Hamburg's statutory doctors' association (34), a United States embassy or consulate (4) and bmeia.gv.at (2). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Swedish turns up in 6 countries rather than only where Swedish is spoken.
42 of the 43 sit on an official list; the rest rest on the provider saying so or on a directory listing, and each card says which.
Where we have nothing
We list doctors in 396 further cities with no Swedish speaker recorded, among them Tokyo (2113), Osaka (1015), Nagoya (770) and Fukuoka (745). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Swedish.
Questions
- How many Swedish-speaking doctors does this page list?
- 43, in 7 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
- Where are most of them?
- Hamburg with 34, Reykjavik with 4 and Graz with 1. Together that is 91% of the page.
- Does a listing mean the doctor speaks Swedish personally?
- Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Swedish speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
