Where these came from

These come from 12 different sources, led by the French embassy in Spain (21), the UK Foreign Office's travel advice (7) and the French embassy in Portugal (7). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why French turns up in 11 countries rather than only where French is spoken.

40 of the 46 sit on an official list; the rest rest on the provider saying so or on a directory listing, which is a weaker claim and is labelled as such on each card.

Where we have nothing

We list doctors in 172 further cities with no French speaker recorded, among them Rome (29), Bangkok (28), Paris (27) and Manila (23). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in French.

Does a listing mean the doctor speaks French personally?

Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a French speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
