Where these came from

These come from 7 different sources, led by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (36), the City of Leipzig (3) and a United States embassy or consulate (1). A consular list records the language because the mission publishes it for its own citizens, which is why Portuguese turns up in 7 countries rather than only where Portuguese is spoken.

Every one of these sits on an official list, published by a body with nothing to sell.

Where we have nothing

We list dentists in 179 further cities with no Portuguese speaker recorded, among them Hiroshima (170), Sendai (123), Matsuyama (116) and Kumamoto (109). That is a gap in what has been published, not proof that nobody there works in Portuguese.

Questions

How many Portuguese-speaking dentists does this page list?
44, in 16 cities. That is the number whose working language we can trace to a published source.
Where are most of them?
Nagoya with 21, Fukuoka with 5 and Leipzig with 3. Together that is 66% of the page.
Does a listing mean the dentist speaks Portuguese personally?
Not always. Some sources name a practice whose staff include a Portuguese speaker rather than the named person, and each card quotes the wording its source used.
